Stronger Handrails After Damages Caused by Batsirai Cyclone in Mauritius

Batsirai, as many of us experienced, caused significant damage to houses and properties. In one particular case, the strong winds exerted immense pressure on a client's handrails, resulting in the unfortunate breaking of the last three glass frames. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Upon closer inspection, it was evident that the handrails had suffered from multiple issues over the years. Traces of rust were visible on the metal supports beneath the wooden poles, indicating that the structure had weakened significantly. These factors combined to make the handrail not only weak but also potentially dangerous.

Given the extent of the damage and the safety concerns, the owner decided it was time for a complete overhaul. We removed the compromised wooden poles and replaced them with sturdy 3"x3" galvanized metal tubes. This choice of material ensured durability and resistance to future weather-related challenges.

The process involved cutting, welding, priming, and painting all the tubes and L fittings right at the owner's premises. Using an air-spray, we applied a thorough coat of primer and paint, ensuring a smooth and protective finish. This meticulous approach guaranteed that the new handrail would be both strong and aesthetically pleasing.

The owner also requested a few adjustments to the original design. Instead of replacing the broken glass panes, we installed simple 1.5"x1.5" tubes. This modification allowed for better airflow, reducing the risk of damage from strong winds in the future.

The end result was a robust and visually appealing handrail that met the client's needs and enhanced the safety of the property. It was a challenging yet rewarding project, and seeing the final product in place was incredibly satisfying. Don't you think the transformation turned out quite well?
