Integrating Beauty in a Weather-proof Gazebo
Here's yet another job which brought me much satisfaction. The requirement for this project was to create a side-house gazebo, designed not only as a pleasant outdoor space but also to provide a rain-proof corridor. This was particularly important to the client, as they wanted to ensure easy access regardless of the weather.
To meet these requirements, I used 2x3 and 2x2 treated and stained pine for the structure. This choice of wood ensured both durability and an appealing finish. The treated pine is resistant to the elements, which is essential for an outdoor construction like this.
To achieve the dual goals of protection from rain and allowing sunlight to reach the plants, I covered the structure with a transparent profile. This material was perfect for maintaining a bright and airy feel, ensuring that the plants continued to thrive while highlighting the beauty of the wooden frame.
The project was completed just in time before Cyclone Batsirai hit. I was quite anxious about how the structure would hold up against such strong winds, but fortunately, it survived the cyclone without any damage. This was a true testament to the robustness and quality of the construction.
This project brought me great satisfaction not only because of the positive feedback from the client but also because it demonstrated the importance of thoughtful design and sturdy construction in the face of unpredictable weather. Knowing that the gazebo provided both beauty and functionality, while also standing up to a severe weather event, made all the effort worthwhile.
