Renovation Chronicles: Transforming an Unfinished Apartment into a Home

In September 2021, I embarked on a remarkably challenging renovation project: an unfinished apartment in dire need of attention. With no plastering on walls or ceiling, improper openings, raw flooring, and lacking both electrical and plumbing systems, it was clear that this space required a comprehensive overhaul. Originally intended for habitation, it had since been relegated to use as storage due to its unlivable condition.

To address these deficiencies, a detailed floor plan was drawn, outlining the layout for bedrooms, living and dining areas, kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. This plan also included the necessary infrastructure for electrical and plumbing systems, allowing for accurate budgeting and planning for fixtures, lighting, and power outlets.

The most significant aspects of this renovation revolved around concrete and blockwork. To tackle these specialized tasks, I enlisted the expertise of a skilled masonry team. Once the apartment was cleared of its accumulated clutter, the team commenced their work, facing their own set of challenges but ultimately delivering a clean and precise result.

With the structural elements in place, attention turned to installing aluminum openings, including interior and exterior doors and windows. Once the essential infrastructure was in place, it was time to bring the space to life. A skilled tiler was contracted to lay the flooring, while a painter added the finishing touches to the walls.

Once the floors were leveled, I began the intricate process of installing the electrical wiring and plumbing fixtures.

I had, by now, ordered in the materials for the construction of the kitchen furniture, it was time to start cutting and assembling each piece according to the design specifications. This aspect of the project was particularly rewarding, as it allowed me to see my vision take shape in tangible form.

Finally, a granite tabletop was installed, providing a polished and functional centerpiece for the kitchen.

With the completion of all tasks, the owner was able to move in, satisfied with the transformation of the space from a neglected storage area to a fully functional and inviting home.
